TOLEDO BLADE

On October 10, 2011, Dr. Michael Grego, Chancellor of Public Schools of the State Board of Education congratulated Toledo Blade Elementary of North Port, FL, as a Florida Title I Distinguished School for the 2010-2011 school year! Toledo Blade Elementary is one of only six Title I schools to be awarded this achievement out of the 1,853 Title I Schools in the State of Florida! The Florida Title I Distinguished Schools award recognizes Title I schools that have made the greatest progress in sustaining high levels of academic achievement and for closing the achievement gap for students in the No Child Left Behind subgroups. These schools are a true example of educational excellence in Florida.

Phillippi Shores IB World School

Students in the 21st century require an education that addresses the challenge of learning about an interconnected world where knowledge is constantly developing. A Phillippi Shores IB World School education prepares students to be active participants in a lifelong journey of learning. In the Spring of 2007, Phillippi became one of a select few schools throughout the nation to become an authorized International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme school. A driving force behind the Primary Years Programme is the deeply held philosophy about the nature of international education. The overall purpose of the IB is to develop international-minded students who care about themselves and the world around them. At the core of internationalism is the learner profile. In addition to being an IB PYP school Phillippi Shores also has earned its seventh consecutive A grade through Floridas A+ Plan. Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) status was granted to Phillippi based on the Federal No Child Left Behind Act. This demonstrates an acceptable level of academic growth for all subgroups served at Phillippi. Phillippi once again earned the Five Star School Award for community involvement.
