What is SC/TA TIGER?

SC/TA TIGER is the political action committee (CCE) representing Sarasota County's professional education association. TIGER is an acronym for Together In Government and Education Reform, and its efforts are exclusively directed towards enhancing public education in Sarasota County and throughout Florida. SC/TA TIGER welcomes membership from all public school employees.

SC/TA TIGER has been established as an independent organization with its own constitution, bylaws, officers, fiscal accounts, goals and programs. SC/TA TIGER is registered with Florida's Department of State, Division of Elections, as a Committee of Continuous Existence.

Why a Separate Organization?

SC/TA TIGER does contribute money to candidates. SC/TA, Inc. does not contribute money to candidates.

What is the Primary Purpose of TIGER?

SC/TA TIGER's basic goal is to inform all school employees regarding the direct relationship between the election of competent government officials and the improvement of teaching, learning and working conditions within our public schools. School employees should understand that government officials make decisions that directly or indirectly determine the number of students in our classes, the level of our salaries, when we can retire and at what rate, what kinds of benefits will be permitted, and whether we will be given the resources to do an effective job. It is essential for SC/TA TIGER to support candidates for public office who have a sincere interest in the future of public education and its workers.

How Do I Become a Member of TIGER?

The easiest way to join SC/TA TIGER is to e-mail us at SCTAONLINE.ORG or call us at (941) 922-9022, and we’ll mail an application to you. You can also fill out an application in our office at 4675 S. Tamiami Trail in Sarasota. The association office is open year round, so don’t hesitate to call or stop by with questions. At the start of the new school year, the building reps at each work site will have applications. You can sign up for SC/TA TIGER in your building. Membership forms for TIGER, our political action committee, are available at the association office or by mail.
