Barry was born in Manhattan and attended the New York City Public Schools. Upon graduation he attended New York University as an undergraduate and completed his graduate studies at Indiana University. He was a school psychologist with the Milwaukee Public Schools for six years prior moving to Sarasota in 1982. He has worked for the SC/TA since 1985 where he started as Assistant Executive Director and has been the Executive Director since 1989.
JoAnne received a BS in Elementary Education and a M.Ed. in Mathematics Education from the University of Central Florida. Prior to working at SC/TA, she taught elementary education for 13 years in Volusia County, Florida. While working as a teacher, JoAnne served as a Union Rep. and served as a membership Vice President for the Volusia Teachers Organization. She left teaching in 1999 and was hired by VTO as professional staff where she worked on membership, member representation and training. JoAnne has worked for SC/TA since 2003 as a Member Service Representative. She has a son who graduated from Stetson University and a daughter who is currently attending MCC.
Dee attended Tascosa High School in Amarillo, Texas. She went on to work in a psychiatric center, was employed by Motorola Inc., drove a cement mixer truck, and then became a school bus driver. Dee continued to drive a school bus in Sarasota County after she moved to Florida. She joined the SCTA as soon as she was hired and became active in the SCTA as a representative. She was the Senior Representative in the Transportation Department for many years, and served on many committees for the SCTA. Dee was elected to the Executive Committee where she served as the chair person for the Finance Committee, and Vice President. After 30 years in the field of student transportation as a professional School Bus Driver, Dee was hired by the SCTA as a Member Service Representative in 2005 and currently represents the Classified membership.
